Helton. Hep's Story
Left Las Cruces 2 days after graduation in '65, headed for Houston, Texas. Dad worked for NASA on Apollo and got transferred to Manned Spacecraft Center. Started college, gave up sand surfing at White Sands for the "real" thing at Galveston, Freeport and Surfside, TX. College didn't go so well but surfing was great. Enlisted in Air Force in '66, got out in '70, Homestead AFB, Fl. Moved to Cocoa, Fl. and tried college again. More success this time. Took a job at the Brevard Community College where I spent 35 years. Retired "Dean Emeritus" 13 years ago. Earned my AA degree, Brevard. My BS, Univ. Central Fl., My MA, Norwich Univ. and my Doctorate, U...Expand for more
niversity of Florida. Started scuba diving in the keys while in the Air Force, developed an interest in Pre-Columbian archaeology and treasure hunting back in Cruces. Pursued it and have been part of or led expeditions to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala, terrestrial and underwater. Did some treasure hunting over the years but learned early on why it's called treasure "hunting" not treasure finding. Have written 3 adventure/treasure hunting novels. Sunken Treasure Lost Worlds Trilogy, available on Amazon. Currently working on book 4. Hope I can connect with some of my fellow class of 65 classmates. Have found some fun pictures from back in the day.
